This Nine-Night Cruise from Florida to the Panama Canal is Only $499 Per Person, But There’s a Catch

Might be hard to believe what you’re reading, but it’s for real: Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line is offering a nine-night (NINE! NIGHT!) cruise to Key West, Grand Cayman, Costa Rica, and the Panama Canal starting at just $499 per person (with third and fourth guests sailing for just $149 each!).

But if you want to snatch up this travel deal of the century, you only have a short window to do so—the cruise is a one-time-only offer with just a single sail date: August 17, 2019.

And you might not even want to wait until next month to book: those who book by June 30 will receive a $100 onboard credit, $100 casino match play, and one free dining upgrade.

The normal BPCL route is between the Port of Palm Beach and Freeport, Bahamas, with a standing offer of year-round two-night sailings aboard the Grand Classica and the Grand Celebration, which depart daily. And while we’ve done those trips, and they’re super fun, they certainly don’t compare to nine nights with three exotic countries on the itinerary! I’m still in disbelief that you can get a cruise to the Western Caribbean and Panama Canal for such a price.

This bucket-list trip will be on board the 1,680-guest Grand Classica and, lucky for you, I have a full review of the ship here: West Palm Beach to Grand Bahama Island Aboard the Grand Classica: Bahamas Cruise Review

Here’s the general itinerary of the trip:

PORT OF PALM BEACH, FL: Travelers set sail aboard Grand Classica from the Port of Palm Beach.

KEY WEST, FL: The adventure begins with a first stop at the southernmost point of the continental U.S., where guests will find stroll-able streets, lively local restaurants and bars, colorful characters, the famous Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum, and more.

GRAND CAYMAN: This destination features some of the world’s most beautiful beaches, or so I’m told. Guests can choose from a collection of guided tours to experience Grand Cayman, such as swimming with stingrays at Stingray City, snorkeling in the Coral Gardens, or meeting baby turtles at a local turtle farm.

PANAMA CANAL: The highlight of the journey! Passengers will experience a full-day trip through the Panama Canal.

COSTA RICA: The trip ends with an overnight stay aboard the ship in Puntarenas, Costa Rica. Excursion options will include a rainforest nature walk and hanging bridge tour; rainforest journey to see crocodiles, aquatic birds, scarlet macaws, howler monkeys and other tropical wildlife; horseback riding; and an ATV adventure exploring jungle trails, teak plantations and rivers.

On “at sea” days, guests can enjoy a smoke-free casino, full-service spa, several dining options, poolside activities, and just generally lounging. Yes please.

“We’ve created an itinerary that connects travelers with the unique culture, beauty and diversity of truly postcard-worthy destinations,” said Oneil Khosa, chief executive officer of Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line. “Our dedicated team has worked diligently to tailor the onboard experience to this very special sailing, ensuring it will be an unforgettable adventure. We look forward to introducing more unique offerings like this in the future, as we revitalize our product offerings and services.”

Why only one time? I’m not sure, but I’m not waiting around to find out! I just hope this one is successful so that they consider offering it again.

Best of all, Brightline just launched special Train-to-Port packages to make it easier than ever to sail from the Port of Palm Beach. Starting at $25 per passenger, the package includes one checked bag, a round-trip train ticket, and Lyft rides to and from the port, so passengers can now start their vacation upon arrival to Brightline’s Miami or Fort Lauderdale stations.

(Psst: Check out this blog post for Brightline coupons and discount codes.)

Note: Cruise fares are per person, based on double occupancy, and do not include gratuities, taxes and fees.
